What You Can Do

It's Easy to become a pro-vaccine advocate!

Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours, there are many things you can do to advocate for pro-science, pro-vaccine policies!

Got 5 minutes?
  • Email your local representatives and let them know you support pro-vaccine legislation! Find my legislator
  • Email your school board and urge them to implement pro-health policies to raise your school's vaccination rates!
  • Use your social media account to raise awareness of the importance of vaccines! (examples: post a selfie of your flu shot, share science-based, peer-reviewed articles about the importance of vaccination from trusted sources)
  • Call your pediatrician and make sure your children are current on all age-appropriate vaccines!
  • Call your primary care physician and make sure you are up-to-date on all recommended vaccinations!
  • Like and share Colorado Immunization Advocate's social media pages! Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for regular updates, stories, vax-related information, and more!
  • Support CIA's mission so that we can continue our work and expand our impact!
  • Spread the word about CIA! Print out our informational flyers, bring them to your next medical appointment and ask if the office would be willing to post them on their info boards. Also great for posting on general public bulletin boards wherever you may see them!

Got a couple of hours?
  • Submit a letter to the editor explaining why vaccines are important to you to your local paper!
  • Attend a legislative town hall with your local representative(s)! When you join CIA, we will inform you of upcoming town halls with your legislators.
  • Attend your local school board meeting and provide public comment in favor of vaccinations!
  • Attend one of our advocacy trainings (usually held 1-2 times/year)

Got a little longer?
  • Attend our annual Parent Lobby Day at the Capital (parking reimbursed and meals provided)!
  • Provide testimony at legislative hearings! Every legislative session holds the possibility of running pro-vaccine bills or defending against those run by anti-vaccine activists. Colorado Immunization Advocates frequently arranges witness testimony for these bills when they are introduced at committee and we are always looking to expand our list of members willing to testify. You will receive support in preparing your testimony (usually a 2-3 minute statement) and in-person support at the hearing. Remote testimony may be possible.
