On August 17th, Governor Polis sent a letter to the State Board of Health requesting that the Board consider rulemaking mandating COVID vaccination for all individuals "involved in health care and support staff who regularly come into contact and share spaces with vulnerable populations including patients seeking medical care in essential medical facilities and in congregate senior living facilities."

Your testimony can be incredibly simple -- just your name, your zip code (so they know that you're a Colorado resident) and a statement that you support the proposed rule requiring the COVID vaccination for staff in a healthcare setting.
You can feel free to add additional points if you'd like. A few ideas:
Your testimony can be incredibly simple -- just your name, your zip code (so they know that you're a Colorado resident) and a statement that you support the proposed rule requiring the COVID vaccination for staff in a healthcare setting.
You can feel free to add additional points if you'd like. A few ideas:
- I am a parent (and you can mention that you're a member of Colorado Immunization Advocates if you'd like). I am also one of the majority of Coloradans who support science-based public health policy.
- Many of the parents in my community have children that are too young to receive the COVID vaccine. As such, it is critically important that we protect the health of our kids and other vulnerable citizens by instituting common-sense policies like what is being proposed here today.
- Those who work in healthcare have an obligation to protect their patients, co-workers, and themselves from catching and transmitting COVID. Parents of children under 12 should have the reassurance of knowing that the medical professionals caring for their children have implemented the necessary health precautions -- especially vaccination -- to prevent exposing their patients to COVID.
- We also know that assisted living and nursing homes in Colorado have been disproportionately impacted by this pandemic. Their residents are especially vulnerable to complications and death from this disease. The facility's employees must be required to be vaccinated to provide the safest environment for residents in their care.
- As our state's Board of Health, you are charged with evaluating the most up-to-date data we have available and implementing rules that adhere as closely as possible to public health best practices. In this case, the answer is incredibly clear. Vaccination is our single best tool to stem the spread of COVID, particularly in light of the emergence of the Delta variant. Our vulnerable medical patients and nursing home residents deserve as much protection as we can offer them.
